Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Sajeya when you use this platform.

Last updated: 30 July 2026

To complete before launch — These terms are a working draft written around how the platform actually behaves. Before launch, have them reviewed by a lawyer qualified in India, and insert your legal entity name, registered address, GST/CIN where applicable, and the governing law and jurisdiction city. Nothing here is legal advice.

1. What Sajeya is

Sajeya is a marketplace. We introduce customers to independent beauty professionals — makeup artists, hair stylists and mehendi artists — and provide the tools to book them, pay a deposit, and keep a record of the service.

We are not the service provider. Artists on this platform are independent professionals, not our employees. They set their own prices, packages and availability, and they perform the service themselves.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or older to create an account, and the details you give us must be accurate. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself.

We verify email addresses, and mobile numbers by WhatsApp. Artists must verify their mobile number before they can accept bookings — customers need to know a real, reachable person is coming to them.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is used fraudulently, or puts other users at risk.

3. Bookings

A booking request is not confirmed until the artist accepts it. Until then, contact details are withheld from both sides. Once confirmed, you and the artist can see what you need in order to coordinate the day, including the address where the service will happen.

Prices are set by the artist and shown itemised on their profile — how many looks, how many hours, touch-ups, how many people are covered, and any travel charge. The price you see when you book is the price recorded for that booking, even if the artist changes their packages later.

4. Payment

You pay a 20% deposit to secure your date. It is held, not immediately passed on, and is released to the artist after the booking is completed. The balance is settled on the day — online, or in cash to the artist with both sides confirming it in the app.

Full details, including our deposit-back guarantee, are in the Cancellation & Refund Policy.

5. Our commission (artists)

Creating a profile and listing on Sajeya is free. We charge a commission of 18% of the package price. That figure is inclusive of GST — there is nothing further to add. Of it, 15.25% of the package price is our fee and the remainder is GST, which we collect and pay to the government. Your tax invoice shows the two separately.

The full 18% is a real cost to you. Since 22 September 2025, beauty and personal well-being services are taxed at 5% without input tax credit, so the GST within our commission cannot be claimed back — not by unregistered artists, and not by GST-registered ones either. We split it on the invoice because the law requires that; we are not suggesting you pay any less than 18%.

  • The commission is charged on the package price only. We do not take any share of your travel charge.
  • It is charged only on bookings that are completed. Cancelled, declined and refunded bookings carry no commission.
  • It is deducted from the deposit we hold before the remainder is released to you, so there is nothing for you to pay separately.
  • If we change the commission, we will tell artists in advance, and bookings already confirmed will be charged at the rate that applied when they were confirmed.

Your dashboard shows the fee on every completed booking alongside what you keep, so the figures can always be checked against your own records.

6. If you are an artist

  • You confirm you are legally able to provide these services and that your skills and experience are as described on your profile.
  • Portfolio photos must be your own work. Photos taken from other artists will be removed and may cost you your account.
  • Only photographs from bookings completed on the platform, where the customer has given permission, may carry the Verified badge. You cannot apply that badge yourself.
  • Keep your availability accurate. Customers can only book dates you open, and repeatedly cancelling confirmed bookings damages everyone.
  • You are responsible for your own taxes, insurance and licences.

7. Reviews and photographs

Only customers with a completed booking can leave a review, and reviews cannot be bought or removed on request. Photographs of a customer’s service are private by default and become public only with that customer’s explicit permission, which can be withdrawn.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use Sajeya to harass anyone, to take bookings you have no intention of honouring, to misrepresent who you are, or to move transactions off the platform in order to avoid its protections. Do not attempt to break, probe or overload the service.

9. Our role and limits

We verify artists before their profiles go live and we provide the guarantee described in our refund policy. We cannot, however, guarantee the artistic outcome of a personal service, and we are not liable for the acts or omissions of independent artists beyond what that guarantee provides.

To complete before launch — Have a lawyer draft the liability, indemnity and dispute-resolution clauses for this section. Keep them consistent with the guarantee you actually offer — an over-broad disclaimer here would contradict the promise made on the homepage.

10. Changes

We may update these terms as the platform develops. We will change the date above, and significant changes will be communicated to you.

11. Governing law

To complete before launch — Insert the governing law and the city whose courts have jurisdiction (Kolkata, presumably, for a West Bengal entity).
