Cancellation & Refund Policy

How the deposit works, when it comes back, and what happens if your artist does not arrive.

Last updated: 30 July 2026

How payment is split

When you book, you pay a 20% deposit to secure your date. The deposit is held — it is not passed to the artist at that point.

The remaining balance is settled on the day of the service, once your artist has arrived and you have confirmed they are there. You can pay the balance online, or in cash directly to the artist — in which case both you and the artist confirm it in the app so there is a record.

The deposit is released to the artist only after the booking is marked completed. That is the point of holding it: it gives us something to refund if the service does not happen as promised.

Booking Assurance — if your artist does not arrive

Every booking on Sajeya is a confirmed booking. If your booked artist does not arrive, we refund your deposit in full and work down the backup artists you chose when you booked. If one of them is free, that becomes your booking at their price. If none of them are, we pay you a service-failure amount of 10% of your booking value — a minimum of ₹2,000 and a maximum of ₹7,500.

This is automatic. There is no form to fill in, no assessment of what the day cost you, and no decision for us to make. Tell us during your booking slot that your artist has not arrived and it follows from there. In most cases we will have noticed first and messaged you already.

This is our commitment on the booking service we provide — we confirmed a booking and it did not happen. It is not an insurance product, you pay nothing for it, and it does not extend to any other loss you may have suffered.

If you chose not to name any backup artists when booking, your deposit is still refunded in full, but the service-failure amount does not apply. You are told this at the moment you decline.

If the look is materially not what was booked

This is different from a no-show and it is not automatic. Raise an issue from your dashboard and our team will look at the booking record — the arrival log, the settlement record and any photographs — and decide what is fair, which may include refunding your deposit.

This is the main reason we ask you to book and settle on the platform rather than privately: if there is no record, there is nothing for us to act on.

If you cancel

While a booking is still awaiting the artist’s confirmation, you can cancel it yourself from your dashboard at no cost.

To complete before launch — Decide your cancellation terms after a booking is confirmed and state them plainly here. You need, at minimum: how far in advance a customer can cancel for a full deposit refund, what (if anything) is retained closer to the date, and how this differs for peak wedding dates. Weddings are booked months ahead and artists turn away other work, so this is a commercial decision worth thinking through — and it must match what you tell artists.

If the artist cancels

If an artist cancels a confirmed booking, your deposit is refunded in full and we will help you find another artist for your date.

How refunds are paid

Refunds are returned to the original payment method through our payment provider. Once we approve a refund, the money typically takes a few working days to appear, depending on your bank or card issuer.

Balance amounts paid in cash directly to an artist are, by their nature, settled between you and the artist. What we refund is the deposit held on the platform.

To complete before launch — Confirm the refund processing window you want to commit to publicly (for example “approved refunds are initiated within 3 working days”). Payment gateways expect a stated timeline.

Raising an issue

Report a problem from the booking in your dashboard, or contact us. Please do it as soon as you can — the sooner we hear, the more we can do.

To complete before launch — State the window within which an issue must be raised (for example “within 48 hours of the booking date”).
