Questions & answers
How booking works, what “verified” really means, and how your money is protected.
For customers
Do I get to choose my own artist?
Yes — that is the whole point of Sajeya. You browse verified artists, look at their real work and itemised prices, and book the specific person you like. You are never assigned someone at random.
What does the "Verified" badge mean?
Every artist is checked by our team before their profile goes live. On portfolios we go further: photos tagged "✓ Verified booking" come from a real, completed booking made through Sajeya, while photos tagged "Portfolio" were uploaded by the artist. That way you can always tell proven work from a showcase.
How much do I pay when I book?
You pay Sajeya's booking fee when you book — 18% of the artist's price, GST included, shown as its own line before you pay. You pay the artist nothing at that point: her own charge is settled directly with her on the day, once the work is done. Every package on the site is itemised — how many looks, how many hours, touch-ups, how many people are covered, and any travel charge — and the price you see is the all-in total.
What happens if the artist does not turn up?
Raise an issue from your dashboard and our team steps in. If your artist does not arrive, we work down the backup artists you chose. If none of them can come, our Booking Assurance pays you the booking amount and a service-failure amount — the Cancellations and Refunds page sets out exactly how it is calculated. You are never out of pocket for the artist's own charge, because you pay her directly on the day and that payment never happened. This is why we ask you to book on the platform rather than settle privately: if there is no record, there is nothing for us to act on.
When do I get the artist's contact details?
Contact details stay masked until the artist confirms your booking. Once confirmed, both sides can see what they need to coordinate the day.
Can I book a trial before the wedding?
Many artists offer trials. Each profile states whether a trial is offered, what it costs, and whether it can be booked directly — look for the trial tag near the top of the profile.
Which cities are you in?
We are launching in Kolkata first and adding cities carefully, so that every artist on the site has actually been checked by us. More cities are coming soon.
Can I cancel a booking?
While a request is still awaiting the artist's confirmation, you can cancel it yourself from your dashboard and our booking fee is refunded in full. Once the artist has confirmed, you can still cancel from your dashboard, but our fee is not refundable from that point — she has blocked out your date and stopped taking other work for it. There is no sliding scale of notice periods: before confirmation everything comes back, after it does not. You have not paid the artist anything at that point, so there is nothing of hers to recover; if she has held a date for you, we ask that you give her as much notice as you can.
Who can leave a review?
Only customers who actually completed a booking through Sajeya. Reviews cannot be bought or faked, and any photos shown with a review are published only when the customer has explicitly agreed to share them.
What if I am not happy with how the look turned out?
Tell us, and tell the artist on the day if you can — most things are fixable there and then, and every artist would rather adjust the look than have you leave unhappy. If it cannot be resolved, raise an issue from your dashboard: we will take it up with the artist, and a pattern of complaints affects whether she stays listed. Please be clear about what we can and cannot do here. A finished look is a matter of taste, and we are not able to judge after the event whether it was done badly or simply was not to your liking, so we do not promise a refund of the artist's charge for it. You pay her directly, so that money is between you and her. What we do control is our own booking fee, our review system, and who we allow on the platform.
Is Sajeya responsible if something goes wrong at my booking?
Sajeya is the platform, not the artist. We are responsible for our own service: checking artists in the way we describe, your booking fee and its refunds, and Booking Assurance if your artist does not arrive. The service itself — the look, the products used and any reaction to them — and anything that happens between you and the artist on the day, is between the two of you. We will still help: we share the booking record with both sides, talk to the artist, decide on our own fee, and close the account of anyone who breaks our rules. The full detail is in section 10 of our Terms of Service.
For artists
How do I join as an artist?
Create an artist account, then fill in your profile — your city and service area, services, itemised packages and a short bio. Add your portfolio photos and open your availability calendar. Our team verifies you before your profile goes live on Browse.
How do I get verified?
Once your profile has your real work, clear packages and your availability, our team reviews it. Complete profiles with genuine portfolio photos get verified faster. Photos from bookings completed on the platform then earn the stronger "Verified booking" tag automatically.
When do I get paid?
The customer pays you your full price directly, on the day, once the work is done — in cash or online, and you both confirm it in the app so there is a record. Sajeya takes nothing from it: our fee is paid by the customer on top, when they book. Collecting your charge is your responsibility. We do not hold or guarantee it, but if a customer does not pay we will help — see "What if a customer doesn't pay me?" below.
Do I control my own prices and availability?
Completely. You set your packages and what is included, your travel charge, and which dates you are available — all from your artist dashboard, at any time.
What if a customer doesn't pay me?
Your payment is an agreement between you and the customer, so Sajeya is not responsible for it and cannot pay you in their place. But you are not on your own. Message us straight away on WhatsApp (+91 87773 48991) or at support@sajeya.in with the booking: we will share the booking record (the package and price you agreed, the confirmation and the arrival log), contact the customer, and suspend or close the account of anyone who refuses to pay. If you go to the police or a court, we will provide the records they ask for.
